Pianist, singer and composer Mose Allison, has been a major influence on musicians of the last 50 years and has been touring and recording for at least that long. His songs have been recorded by The Who, Van Morrison, Bonnie Raitt, Elvis Costello, The Clash and Diana Krall to name a few, and his singular style, a unique blending of jazz and blues, and his profound lyrical wit, mark him as a true American original. After a 12 year recording hiatus he is back with The Way of the World on Anti Records, produced by Joe Henry. Born in 1927 on his grandfather’s farm in the Mississippi Delta, Allison discovered that he could play the piano “by ear” and began “picking’ out” blues and boogie tunes he heard on the local jukebox. He went on to play and record with jazz greats Stan Getz, Al Cohn, Zoot Sims and Gerry Mulligan as well as with his own Mose Allison Trio. An admirer of jazz masters Bud Powell and Lenny Tristano, he also learned from composers such as Bartok, Ives, Hindemith and Ruggles.  Mose Allison will be accompanied by his long time associate, Cerrillos drummer Pete Amahl and bassist Chuck Metcalf.

Santa Fe-based guitarist and vocalist Pat Malone has played with a wide variety of musicians, including Pete Christlieb (Steely Dan, Doc Severenson), Lonnie Mack, Kim Stone (Spyra Gyra), Junior Brown, Jimmy Carl Black (Frank Zappa Mothers of Invention) and more. Malone has worked as a guitarist and vocalist on hundreds of projects and, as an arranger and musical producer, has helped many other artists record their music. He will be joined by Kanoa Kaluhiwa, saxophone; Asher Barreras, bass; and John Bartlitt, drums.
